Gay Vienna – the top gay hotels, bars, clubs & more

Vienna is one of Europe’s underrated wonders, where old-world grandeur blends with a quirky new edge. It’s a town where centuries-old coffeehouses settle snugly below baroque palaces and grandiose opera houses. Just when you assume Vienna is all about its imperial past, you’ll find yourself in a hip café which serves vegan schnitzels, a sleek art gallery with cutting-edge installations, or a trendy gay bar hidden in an alleyway.

The Viennese own perfected the art of enjoying life, as seen in their dedication to the ritual of Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake). For them a visit to a coffeehouse is about far more than getting a daily caffeine hit—it’s a cultural experience where people linger, philosophize, and enjoy desserts that look like miniature sculptures. And don’t even think about rushing the experience, unless you wish to risk invoking the wrath of your waiter. Yet, for all its elegance and reverence for tradition, Vienna has a playful side too. Locals might be reserved, but their city hums with an undercurrent of wit and whimsy. You’ll watch it in the colorful Hundertwasserhaus, the cheeky avenue art, and

About Vienna and its queer life

Both in the past and in the present, gays have played a prominent role in Vienna’s public life. Probably the most prominent lgbtq+ in the history of Austria was Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736) who freed Vienna from Turkish siege and pushed the Ottomans back to the Balkans. But it wasn’t just on the battlefield that Eugene was surrounded exclusively by men; in private, he preferred to have intimate relations with members of his hold sex – a evidence well known even during his lifetime. Even so, he managed to erect his career and broaden his power base during the reigns of three emperors, and his mighty influence on Vienna remains visible to this date. His summer palace, Schloss Belvedere, is an memorable example.

The last emperor served by Prince Eugene, Charles VI, is said to have had an intima

Last May, I stayed at the Hotel Altstadt. Very nice boutique hotel and gay friendly. It was about 15 min amble to the gay area. The gay area is conveniently located near the huge open air market (Naschmarkt). There are quite a few gay prevent choices for all ages and tastes. I always check Patroc.com to verify out the scene when going to a major city in Europe. Wish you have a superb time in Vienna. It is one of my top places that I've visited.

I'd definitely recommend the Cafe Berg (www.cafe-berg.at). Own been there several times and always enjoyed it. Good place for breakfast or brunch.

Ahhh... Vienna in the summertime is a lgbtq+ paradise (at least for me) . I dream I can make it there one more age this summer before it's over. As for the gay neighborhoods in Vienna, there really isn't one. Howev
