Is ‘Agatha All Along’ the Gayest Thing Disney Has Ever Made?

In press for Agatha All Along, the stars said that the show would result in a “gay explosion” which is mighty interesting verbiage to be attached to a Disney property. Disney’s history with queer stuff has been mixed. For every Love, Simon there’s the “exclusively gay moment,” and the kiss in Lightyeargetting cut out and restored. Disney isn’t the root of all bad, but in my exposure, they don’t seem particularly interested in, let alone adept at, queer inclusion or media. Forgive my skepticism, but in my humble opinion, Gay Stuff™️ just isn’t Disney’s forte. The claim of “gay explosion” can be study as a called shot or a high-water impression to meet. The expression becomes an open scrutinize of how a Disney property would interpret “gay.” There are many ways for media to be gay after all. So I took in the first three episodes of Agatha All Along to find out just how gay this show is.

I had two preconceptions going in. The first was that the exclude was low and that it wouldn’t take much to be the gayest thing Disney’s

Agatha All Along episode four has delivered even more sapphic sexual tension between Agatha Harkness and Rio Vidal – and the gays are losing it.

(Warning: spoilers for Agatha All Along episode four follow).

Though it was termed ‘Marvel’s gayest project to date‘ before its premiere, WandaVision spinoff Agatha All Along has not only delivered on that promise, but gone above and beyond to keep LGBTQ+ fans enthralled.

To recap, our spikey anti-hero Agatha Harkness (Hahn) is broken out of a hex and immediately confronted by her arch-nemesis-and-maybe-ex-lover Rio Vidal (Plaza), leading to a brief fight that looked and sounded a lot like foreplay.

Three episodes later, and that foreplay continues: Though Rio is not part of the Coven that makes it onto the Witches Route to try and rebuild Agatha’s power, the mysterious assassin rejoins the team – and sparks fly.

Sharon Davies (Debra Jo Rupp) unfortunately kicked the witchy bucket at the close of episode three, sense the group has to summon a replacement Emerald Witch, which turns out to be Rio. After the latest trial for Alice Wu (Ali Ahn) leaves Teen (Locke) severely wounded, the group bond, and Agatha and Rio bond

Is Agatha Harkness Gay? Agatha All Along Has a Surprising Answer

The following contains spoilers from Agatha All Along Episode 4, "If I Can't Reach You, Let My Song Instruct You," which premiered Wednesday, Oct. 2 on Disney+.

Disney and Marvel continue to make progress in their films and shows by featuring more queer characters as either heroic or villainous characters. Agatha All Along makes its characters' sexuality a natural part of their lives that they're not afraid to hide, nor is it the focus of their individual journeys. One example is Agatha Harkness herself, who in Episode 4, almost nearly confirms is queer, most likely multi-attracted .

Agatha's queerness has been widely speculated by fans since even before the series arrived. But in the premiere episode, "Seekest Thou the Road," it was her intense dynamic with the flirtatious Rio Vidal that suggested the two of them might have been lovers in a past life. A few episodes later, "If I Can't Reach You, Let My Song Educate You," reunites the witches to make Alice Wu-Gulliver's test on the Witches' Road the most arousing one yet.
